Project Artanco Dragons
Acidic Monster-
Largest of the three most common dragons. They’re known to eat anything that moves or wanders into their territory. They live mostly in caves dug into the bottom of swamps, so while travelling in Artanco, avoiding swamps is a must. They’re armed with four meter long talons, can spray acid and poison, their bite is poisonous, and use a combination of slashing and biting in combat. As for defence, their scales are thick and acid proof. They are also immune to poisons. They usually remove the spine from their prey by making a small incision in the back of the neck, then stick in a talon to flick out the spine. Colours range from emerald green to pine green, as well as murky green and brown. Sometimes black.
Poisonous Whisper-
A sub-species of Acidic Monster. They live on the ocean floor in burrows, or in caves dug into trench walls. They’re so lazy that they just lie in the caves or burrows and stick out their tails- which have a second head on them- out into the water and gobble up whatever floats past. They also have two hearts, one located in the chest, and another located in the tail near the second head. Its stomach and intestines are also located in its tail. It is the colour of nothing. You can see inside of it.
Shrieking Shadow-
Smallest of the three most common dragons. They’re very tranquil, and would gladly hang out with a human- if you don’t try to kill them, and if they haven’t had any bad experiences with humans in the past. They’ll live just about anywhere. They’re armed with a shriek that is so loud it can kill small dragons, rodents, birds, and even humans. If its shriek doesn’t kill you, it will paralyze you. They also have two meter long talons, fiery breath, and serrated teeth. They’ve got very thick scales that can deflect sword blades, arrows, daggers, and just about anything else. Any shade of black for colour.
Frozen Hell-
Usually smaller than an Acidic Monster, but larger than a Shrieking Shadow. They enjoy riddles and are not known to eat humans, although they will occasionally. They live mostly in mountains or mountainous areas, but have been found in the colder areas in Artanco. Armed with five meter long talons, serrated teeth, frosty breath, and sharp spines. They eat mostly sheep. Usually any shade of blue and black. Also has white markings on its snout.
Crimson Hell-
Variation of the Frozen Hell. It shares many of the same characteristics as the Frozen Hell. The main differences are that these can breathe fire or frozen breath, and its colouration is usually crimson, though some are scarlet coloured.
Dreadnano-
A tiny dragon. They tend to live in cities that are fighting a losing battle, and since most cities aren’t, they’re actually very rare. It feeds off fear. Armed with teeth, talons (Which are 2.5 cm long, so half their body size), a slightly poisonous bite, and they can cause insanity. Its only form of defense is to make its enemies go insane. They’re capable of returning sanity, and making an insane person sane. It’s very fast in the air. Usually black, grey, or midnight blue.
Kepa- (Pronounced “Keh-pah”)
A fox-sized dragon. It lives mostly in forests, eating garbage and whatever else it can find. They eat humans whenever they have the chance. Armed with 10 cm long talons, 15 cm long teeth, and fiery breath. They aren’t very well defended- their scales are surprisingly soft. They hunt in packs of about five or ten other Kepa. Usually pine green.
Tawny Kepa-
City dwelling variation of the Kepa. Almost exclusively tawny coloured.
Charred Nightmare-
Around the same size as the average Acidic Monster. It lives in mountains, mountainous areas, and volcanoes. They’re very aggressive, and approaching them is not a good idea. They set themselves on fire and charge their foes. They are one of the few dragons that kill humans for its own amusement. No Nightmare’s fire is the same temperature as another’s. They’re armed with 2.5 meter long talons, 50 cm long teeth, fiery breath, and a slightly poisonous bite. Their scales are fire-proof and very thick, so they’re well-defended. Any shade of black for colour.
Artanci- (Pronounced “Are-tan-key”)
Artanci are the namesake of Artanco. They are found only in Artanco. They’re medium-sized dragons, but they’re terrifyingly fast, vicious, and savage when they need to be. They usually ignore humans, though they’ll occasionally chat with humans and even make friends with them. Artanci rarely eat humans, and when they do, it’s usually only criminals (how they know these humans are criminals, no one knows). Armed with 4 meter long canine teeth (they actually stick out of their mouth quite a bit), 2.5 meter long talons, and fiery breath. They have “standard” dragon scales, so they’re decently defended. Artanci are very rare, almost believed to be myths. Usually white or brown.
Electric Slug-
A fairly large aquatic dragon. They are found mostly in warm waters. They often eat fishermen, divers, swimmers, and sailors. Armed with teeth and the ability to electrocute any living thing that touches them. Its main defense is this to electrocute whatever threatens them. Usually yellow with cyan underbelly, though some are cyan with a yellow underbelly.
Bone Cruncher-
A large dragon, bigger than the Acidic Monster. It feeds mostly on humans, pigs, cows, sheep, and other dragons. It got its name from the fact that it actually eats the bones of its prey. Usually a dirty white in colour.
